From The School

Bryant University is more than an institution, it's a community that encourages different perspectives and creates belonging through student-centered support. Bryant students come from nearly 40 states and territories and from almost 50 countries.

More than 100 student organizations, including academic clubs, community service groups, club sports teams, performance groups, and cultural organizations help students lead and collaborate. Our 25 Division I varsity sports teams give students the opportunity to inspire Bulldog pride and bring the community together.

What students say:

At Bryant, "no one is simply looking for a job-everyone is searching for the job." This leads to "an air of professionalism here," although students can "be labeled as overinvolved" as they do what they can to gain experience and stand out. It's not hard for students to recognize each other at Bryant, though, as it's a "relatively small school in land and in numbers." One student says, "That means we get to know our peers on a more personal level." This familiarity is also helped by the fact that "many choose to double major." Indeed, this group is "driven to succeed in their careers after college," and "almost everyone who can is employed in a summer internship." Overall, campus life is teeming with "different types of leaders who are each striving for their individual goals but are also devoted to maintaining a strong, cohesive student body."

What students say

Bryant University in Rhode Island prides itself on doing things differently, and they stand by that by encouraging an integrated curriculum of business, liberal arts, and health and behavioral science. It's a combination that students don't seem to mind, citing "phenomenal job placement numbers." One student claims "it is very hard to not get a job within six months of graduating." That could be due, in part, to the fact that the school "excels in its ability to provide hands-on academic experiences" that "ensure all students are ready for what the real world will be like." One such initiative is the first-year Bryant IDEA Program, which is "a three-day intensive program that teaches design thinking." Those opportunities don't end on Bryant's campus, though, as students can also partake in programs like Walk on Wall Street, Arts in the City, semester-long study abroad, and shortterm study abroad trips that are faculty-led and tied to academic courses.

Regardless of where Bryant's students are, the "academic experience is always focused on learning rather than getting a grade." and everyone here is "very willing to offer extra help when it is needed," making it "hard [for a student] to fall through the cracks." To that end, faculty here are "professionals in their industry" and are "quite open...about their realworld experiences." Their words "bring great insight into various industries" and "allow students to get in touch with the latest information so they can catch up with the current [trends] in the business world." This also comes with the open style of teaching many classes employ, "which allows for a dialogue and expansion of thoughts and ideas in the classroom." That dialogue also reaches beyond the classroom thanks to an "incredible network of alumni who genuinely care and want to get Bryant students jobs."

Minutes from campus: Smithfield Commons and Garden City Shopping Center are located minutes from campus, with restaurants and popular stores.

20 minutes from campus: Providence offers excellent restaurants, sporting events, concerts, a nationally acclaimed repertory theater, and The Providence Place Mall.

30 minutes from campus: Go for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean or hike, fish, and take in nature in Arcadia State Park. You can also take the ferry to Block Island, off the coast of Rhode Island for a secluded beach day and fresh-caught seafood.

45 minutes from campus: Boston offers historic and cultural offerings including the Boston Symphony Orchestra; the Boston Ballet; national and local theater productions; and several art museums. Sports fans can watch the Celtics and the Bruins at the TD Bank Garden, as well as the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Historic Newport is an internationally renowned sailing mecca with historic and cultural attractions, elegant mansions, and panoramic beaches.

What students say:

For Bryant Bulldogs, weekdays "are filled with class, homework, and group projects," so students are "always busy with group meetings." But when they're not in a meeting or in class, students "normally sit and do homework by the pond-if it is nice out." When they're ready to step away from their studies, there's plenty of school spirit to go around for the NCAA Division I sports: "Everyone goes to...games...dressed in black and gold." Outside of intramurals, "various clubs attract a lot of students," with an assortment of options ranging from those that "promote mental health awareness [to those] that play video games every Friday night." On weekends, students will often "take a trip to Providence for dinner or go on a trip with the Student Programming Board to go bowling, to [see] a play, or to [watch] a Boston sports game." Whatever your tastes may be, this "extremely welcoming" community has the "perfect balance of academics, recreation, and extracurricular activities."

Location

Big school opportunities in a small school environment. Bryant's stunning and secure campus in Smithfield, Rhode Island, offers the best of both worlds: a close-knit, friendly community with the resources of a large university and proximity to Providence, Boston, and New York. Declared one of the most beautiful college campuses.

Campus Facilities & Equipment

Quinlan/Brown Academic Center for Innovation (AIC)
A hub for experiential learning, the AIC hosts "breakout" collaboration spaces that inspire creative problem solving and high-tech classrooms that encourage innovative teaching and active learning.

Bello Center for Information & Technology
The Bello Center for Information & Technology houses the Douglas & Judith Krupp Library, the Stepan Grand Hall, and the C.V. Starr Financial Markets Center (FMC) feature real-time stock market data and Reuters 3000.

Fisher Student Center
The Fisher Student Center is Bryant's "living room" and houses offices for student organizations as well as grab-and-go dining options.

Chase Athletics & Wellness Center
The Wellness Center features a fitness center and six-lane, 25-yard swimming pool, while The Bulldog Strength & Conditioning Centers serves the student-athletes from Bryant's 25 Division I teams.

Koffler Center
The Koffler Center and Communications Complex features state-of-the-art production facilities that provide hands-on learning through the WJMF radio station, a high-definition television studio and control room, several dedicated sets, an impressive array of field gear, and multiple video editing stations.

The Business Entrepreneurship and Leadership Center (BELC)
Bryant is reimagining its campus with a 250,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility, gifted to the university by Fidelity Investments in fall 2023, to house its top-ranking College of Business, the Graduate Programs office, the Executive Education and Career Accelerator, the Hauck Professional Sales Lab, and the Ellen Wilson Leadership Center.

Off-Campus Opportunities
