  • Compete on one of our 23 Division III varsity athletic teams
  • Forge lifelong friendships in one of 23 Greek letter organizations

What students say:

At first glance, it seems as though DePauw's student body primarily consists of individuals from "well-off" families "from the Indianapolis or Chicago area." However, though the "core group [may be] midwestern white students," many undergrads insist that you'll find "divers[ity] in a lot of ways-in terms of ethnicity, sexuality, sexual orientation/identity, thoughts, political viewpoints, country of origin/nationality, etc." This individual concurs noting that "each of my classes has...students from all over the world." Just as critical, DePauw undergrads say that their classmates are "open-minded individuals who are eager to learn about the world around them." Another student further explains, "My peers are often unafraid to stand up for what they believe to be right, and actively work to better the DePauw community." Ultimately, when it comes down to it, "The university has a very social student base that acts as a very tight-knit community."

From the School

At DePauw, we've reimagined what a college education can be with our innovative three-school model. At our core, you will find the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where you'll sharpen your thinking skills, become a great communicator and explore a wide range of subjects. Complementing this foundation, the School of Business and Leadership blends practical business acumen with ethical decision-making. And completing the triad is the Creative School, where innovation meets imagination in technology, arts and media.

Whether you're focusing on a single area or traversing the boundaries between schools, you'll benefit from a comprehensive and collaborative approach to education — and you'll graduate as a well-rounded, adaptable leader ready to succeed in an ever-evolving global landscape.

What students say

DePauw University has done an incredible job of building a "collaborative community" that prioritizes the needs and desires of its undergraduates. Whether it's cultivating a "truly caring faculty," being wholly "receptive to student feedback" or developing "excellent study abroad options," students here are set up to thrive. Importantly, DePauw "emphasizes [a] well-rounded education" as undergrads are expected to "take classes in nearly all departments over their four years." Inevitably, this allows them to develop "both [a] depth and breadth of knowledge" and also helps ensure that there are "programs and courses for every student." Another great benefit of a DePauw education? The "classes are small so students are able to really engage in discussion." But perhaps the true highlight of studying here are the professors who tend to be "knowledgeable, interesting, empathetic and invested." As this undergrad explains, "My professors do a great job at making sure we don't grow tired of our material. They always switch things up to make sure we are learning and growing as individuals." They're also "eager to tell students about internships or job opportunities, and love connecting students with alumni." As another grateful undergrad simply concludes, "The professors at DePauw University are some of the most phenomenal people I have ever met."

Our stunning 175-acre campus is a mix of historic buildings and modern spaces, all surrounded by beautiful greenery that makes you want to explore every corner. Just a quick drive from Indianapolis, you'll find yourself in a place that's as cozy as it is inspiring.

The crown jewel? The DePauw Nature Park, a sprawling 520-acre wonderland perfect for hiking, unwinding, or just soaking in the great outdoors. Whether you're studying in our state-of-the-art facilities or enjoying a sunny afternoon on the quad, DePauw offers an inviting atmosphere where you can dive into your passions and make lifelong memories.

Off-Campus Opportunities

At DePauw University, the world is your classroom. With an impressive 84% of our students completing at least one internship, you'll have the chance to gain real-world experience in your field before you even graduate. Whether it's landing a spot at a Fortune 500 company in Indianapolis or working with innovative startups around the country, our dedicated career services team is here to help you navigate your journey.

And if you're itching to explore even further, you're in good company—90% of DePauw students take advantage of our diverse study abroad programs. From bustling cities in Europe to immersive experiences in Asia and beyond, these global adventures not only enhance your education but also broaden your horizons and deepen your understanding of the world.

What students say:

Undergrads at DePauw are "very committed to their academics" and it's common for people to "spend much of the week studying." Nevertheless, there's plenty to enjoy when they want to take a break from their books. To begin with, DePauw maintains a fairly robust fraternity and sorority system. "Many students join Greek life at some point and are involved in [their] philanthropy, academic and social activities including partying. Even those not in the Greek system are likely to attend the Greek parties." Additionally, athletics are "very popular" as well and you'll often see "students [at] football games... during the fall semester, especially when they play our rival team during the Monon Bell game." Of course, the university itself also "hosts many fun events to bring students together, such as food truck Fridays." And there are numerous organizations and clubs to join ranging from the student newspaper and TV station to the future medical professionals club and sustainability leadership program. When wanting to get off outside for a bit, "many students go to the Nature Park (a DePauw owned nature preserve). It is very popular in the spring and fall and many students enjoy hiking, reading, or working on homework [there]."

And if you're venturing off campus, undergrads note that "Greencastle['s] downtown has grown tremendously these past few years, and there are many cute restaurants and bars to visit." Students also like to "go to dinner with friends and go see a movie or go bowling, which are free in the town if you are a student."

What students say

DePauw students “are very focused on getting their degrees and [landing] really good jobs.” Considering that Depauw''s grads report at median starting salary of $52,300, (according to PayScale.com), we'd say they're achieving their goals. This is no doubt due to DePauw's “amazing” resources to help students find internships, jobs, etc. To begin with, undergrads love to highlight the “alumni database [which is teeming with] successful people.” Additionally, students can scour TigerTracks, an internal site that allows undergrads to search for jobs and internships listed specifically for DePauw students. The Hubbard Center for Student Engagement also offers some really unique programs beyond the traditional resume workshops and mock interviews. For example, collaborating with Indiana University's Kelly School of Business, DePauw offers the Liberal Arts Management Program, which teaches how businesses are created and how they function. The insight gleaned from programs like this is enormous.

From The School

Students are sure to find their people when they:

  • Join one of our more than 100 student clubs and organizations — from Robotics and Rock Climbing to Theatre and Ultimate Frisbee
  • Compete on one of our 23 Division III varsity athletic teams
  • Forge lifelong friendships in one of 23 Greek letter organizations
  • Serve the community, locally and across the country and globe

Location

DePauw University is located in the vibrant town of Greencastle, Indiana, where small-town charm meets big ideas.
