Applicants for our BFA programs are considered for the Silas H. Rhodes Scholarship. Our merit-based scholarship is awarded on the strength of the applicant's portfolio and academic performance. There is no separate application form for this award. To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA and submit all application materials including their portfolio by the corresponding deadline. The scholarship consideration deadline for fall entry is February 1 for first-time freshmen applicants and March 1 for transfer applicants. The scholarship consideration deadline for students applying for spring entry is November 1.

It is encouraged for applicants to submit their work digitally through SlideRoom. If an applicant submits a digital portfolio with their application, they do not need to submit a second portfolio for scholarship consideration.

Both US citizens and international applicants are eligible for this award. The Silas H. Rhodes Scholarship is roughly equivalent to half-tuition and is renewable each year if the student remains in good academic standing.

For additional details, please see the scholarship information on our website.

All applicants interested in need-based financial aid must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA may be completed online at studentaid.gov. Please enter the code 007468 for SVA in step 6. The FAFSA should be filed between January 1 and February 1 for fall applicants. Need-based financial aid is not available to international applicants.
