Join the Brownson Speech and Debate Team, ranked in the Top 20 college and university forensic teams for years or write for one of our three student newspapers. You don't have to be a superstar athlete to be part of the game at Seton Hall. Our athletic programs include competition on varsity, intramural and club levels. In fact, almost 50 percent of our students participate in club or intramural sports. Even if you don't know a handball from a handoff, you'll be decked out in blue and cheering your heart out when you attend any one of Seton Hall's 14 NCAA division I Big East athletic events. This is a "big name and small community atmosphere" in which the "empowered and ambitious students" are "fairly diverse in regard to race" and "eager to jump start their careers." "Christianity is the dominant faith" and Seton Hall's "Catholic values bring in a large range of religious students." One student adds, "It is very easy to build relationships and make connections with people outside your particular field of study." Another goes on to describe the overall feel of campus: "There's never a time I'm on campus where I don't see a friendly face," says a student, and others note that "there's a general familial air around campus." Since the campus draws many students, "there is a heavy commuter population," but those living on campus "are often members of Greek life or have a leadership position in clubs."

This is an academically serious group that also makes time for "lots of outings to NYC and events on campus." The "environment and energy" at athletic games "draws people together," and the school "has extensive programming that allows opportunities for cultural, social, and service-oriented events" while "always [providing] fun things to do on the green when the weather is nice." After class ends, many students "meet up together for lunch on or off campus" or work out; "the Rec Center is always bustling with yoga classes or intramural sports." People generally "fill their days by hanging out in various spots on campus like lounges in the dorms, the dining hall, The Cove, the Living Room, or the library." Some mention the areas around campus "can make students feel unsafe traveling off campus," but note that it's "not unsafe as long as [you are] using common sense." Weekends can involve "various social activities exclusive to Greek life, trips hosted by the Student Activities Board into New York City, as well as club events hosted on campus." In addition, "there are so many different clubs or organizations that allow each student to find their place on campus."
